Reunion is one of the most exciting moments in life, but imagine this unique offer that gives you a golden opportunity of re-uniting with your closest relatives; the endangered mountain gorillas with over 95% human DNA, and similar characteristics, though have opted to spend their time in the wild, on the slopes of gigantic Virunga chain of Maintains – Mgahinga Gorilla national park and Bwindi Impenetrable national park; both in south western part of Uganda.
There is a lot more in this adventure such as enjoying a lovely drive to and from the destinations, spending nights in classic accommodations, and meeting new friends, yet not ignoring the fun and excitement of seeing your dreams of once coming face to face with the Gorillas come true. The Trip starts with fun and ends with unforgettable memories.
Itinerary in Details
Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Mgahinga national park
Upon landing at the airport, you will meet our company representative with a passionate smile and placards inscribed on your name. He briefs you on the different issues related to this double trekking, before embarking on a 5-6 hours’ drive to Mgahinga national park in western Uganda, while traversing through very unique vegetation patterns, the long-horned Banyankole cattle and sweeping valleys.
The first taste of Ugandan meal will be time for lunch enroute, before crowning the day at your lodge in or around the Mgahinga Park with dinner and a nap.
Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Mgahinga and Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable national park
This day starts very early in the morning with breakfast, followed by a brief drive to the park’s headquarters for briefing, and registration by the park stewards. You will have an equal share of fun during the briefing as the documentaries run through the screen and as the rangers explain the does and don’ts while with the Apes.
There is only one very lovely Gorilla family open for eight people, and so for about 1-5hours, you will traverse the rare tree species, rocks, and bushes among others in the quest for where these Apes are feeding, playing, or resting. One hour will be yours to watch, take photos, and admire the games for these relatives in there free world, before returning to the lodge for lunch, and later a transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable national park. Your dinner finds you in high spirits for satisfaction, before a nap.
Day 3: Second gorilla trekking tour in Bwindi and an optional Batwa encounter
This will be your second day of reconnecting with your relatives; the gentle giants in their natural habitat at Bwindi impenetrable Jungle. As you did the previous day so is the tracking today, though the difference is abundance of flora and fauna; the landscape, and a relatively different of the mountain gorilla species around the Virunga massif.
The Tracking starts at about 8:30 am after a briefing by the park rangers, and it lasts for about 1-8 hours depending on your hiking pace and the location the apes Are, plus one extra hour of glancing at the Apes, taking photos, and making inquiries.
Thereafter, you will return to the lodge for lunch, and then an optional visit to the shortest people in Uganda, hunters and gatherers; the Batwa pygmies. After visiting their historical caves, listening to the sweet stories and dancing with them, you will return to the lodge for dinner and peaceful sleep.
Day 4: Departure
Today, you will have a relaxed breakfast, followed by a 5-6 hours’ drive to your drop-off point which is in most cases the airport or a hotel around the city. An enroute lunch will be at the equator where you will witness the equator line demonstrations and take fantastic photos.
